Founded by two longtime friends with a shared passion for construction, Austin and Michael, AR3 was born from their vision of building a company that combined their unique skills and experience to better serve the Alaskan community. Both with years of hands-on experience, they recognized the need for a contractor who could manage all aspects of a project—from demolition to the final finishing touches—ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience for clients.

Michael Johns
Michael Johns is a talented carpenter and builder with a deep passion for creating enduring, high-quality structures. Born in LaConner, Washington in 1990, Michael was the youngest of three brothers. Growing up, his father instilled in him the importance of craftsmanship, particularly in the art of finish carpentry and woodworking. His love for the trade was further nurtured as he moved to Alaska in 2005, where he completed his education and began working in the construction industry.
In 2011, Michael returned to Washington to apprentice under his older brother, Joshua Johns, at BowerBird Builders. Through this mentorship, Michael honed his skills in timber framing and artistic, engineered buildings. Under his brother's guidance, Michael developed a keen understanding of the craft, mastering techniques that would set him apart in the construction world. His deep appreciation for woodwork and its ability to create lasting, beautiful structures fueled his passion to pursue his dream of building homes and spaces that stand the test of time.
After gaining valuable experience with BowerBird Builders, Michael returned to Alaska and managed a large, well-known construction and restoration company, where he worked on numerous complex and time-sensitive projects. His desire to take on more challenges and create his own legacy led him to partner with his close friend Austin Johnson to establish Alaska Restoration, Remodel, and Roofing (AR3). Together, they combined their expertise and vision to build a company focused on delivering exceptional work, whether for simple repairs or large, custom projects.
At AR3, Michael is dedicated to providing clients with innovative and reliable solutions for their building needs. His expertise in advanced engineering, weatherproof designs, and artistic craftsmanship enables him to create structures that are not only functional but also beautiful. Through AR3, Michael continues to share his love for construction while helping Alaskans build their dreams, one project at a time.
Austin Johnson
Austin is a skilled carpenter and project manager with a deep passion for the construction industry. Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, he moved to Talkeetna, Alaska in 2010 at the age of 12. His exposure to the trade began early, and he quickly fell in love with framing and carpentry. After high school, Austin attended AV Tech, a trade school in Seward, Alaska, where he graduated as one of the top students in his class.
Following his graduation, Austin began his professional career with a well-known restoration company in Wasilla, where he spent seven years honing his skills. Over the course of his career, he took on increasing responsibilities, ultimately serving as the primary estimator and project manager for two years. This experience provided him with the opportunity to manage complex projects and develop a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver high-quality results.
Driven by his love for hard work and a desire to create something meaningful, Austin partnered with his longtime friend, Michael Johns, to found Alaska Restoration, Remodel, and Roofing (AR3). Their shared vision for the company was to provide customers with a one-stop solution for all their construction needs while building a legacy of craftsmanship and reliability. Austin's goal for AR3 is to leave a lasting impact on the Alaskan community by delivering exceptional work and maintaining the highest standards of service.
